Crawly library tree columns by Why Not Associates

The following is Enviromental Design work by Why Not Associates. Typographic tree columns were created in collaboration with Gordon Young at Crawley library. Check it out here.
So inspiring! I'd definitely be distracted from my study if these were located in my local library or university.

Lego Classics by Balakov

I love these Lego Classics by Balakov. Click here for his awesome compositions. Some are very humorous.
V.J. Day Times Square
A Lego recreation of Alfred Eisenstaedt's 1945 photograph "V.J. Day Times Square".
Afghan Girl
A Lego recreation of Steve McCurry's 1985 National Geographic cover photograph of Sharbat Gula (previously known simply as "Afghan Girl" before her formal identification in 2002).
Miley Cyrus
A Lego recreation of Annie Leibovitz's controversial 2008 photograph of 15 year old singer/actress Miley Cyrus.
Moon landing
Here's what he said about this photo. "The 20th July 2009 is the 40th anniversary of the first manned landing on the moon. I've always been unhappy with my previous moon landing photo because of the 'modern' Lego spaceman. The classic 1978 Lego spaceman is far more fitting for this sort of thing (he's from the Vintage collection Vol. 2)."
Horse In Motion
A recreation of a photographic experiment conducted by Eadweard Muybridge in 1878. Of this photo Balakov says "Muybridge set out to determine that all four feet of a galloping horse left the ground at the same time. I have been unable to reproduce his findings."
Ophelia
Barakovs interpretation of Ophelia from Shakespeare's Hamlet, based on the painting by John Everett Millais in 1852.
He also uploads the setup of his scenes out of interest. See his setup for Ophelia.
Ophelia - Setup
It makes me want to play.

Wear it, style it, write it, read it and live it - The Letter B

I have always loved the first letter of my name 'b'. I could wear it, style it, write it, read it and live it.

Love letter murals

Love Letter is a project by Stephen Powers with the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program and is sponsored by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative. Generous support provided by the Brownstein Group and Septa.
My husband and I are planning a trip to New York and Philadelphia at the end of this year. I hope we get to visit some of them.

I would love to draw with these!

LMNOP reader, Jessica McEvoy took their Craft Challenge back in December and won with these very cool, beeswax Space Invader crayons. Jess and her daughter have been working on perfecting a recipe for making beeswax Space Invader crayons. I didn't even know you could make your own crayons. This is something I'd LOVE to try!! I bet it's messy though.

Finished robot cross-stitch

I finally finished a robot design I started over a year ago. It was made the same time as another small robot. I originally wanted to create a little bit of robot family maybe that's something I should continue...

More developments by me...

I love making things and I think I'm on a roll. I experimented a bit this week with more speech bubble designs and here they are.
"Let's talk about a party in the evening"
"Let's talk about something, nothing or anything"
 "Let's talk about the stars"
 "Let's talk about the stars"
At this stage I have plans to turn them into necklaces or broaches but I'm still not sure...

Easter bunny finger puppets

I found this tutorial a little late for Easter but seeing as my Mum was a bit bummed about not getting anything for Easter I decided to make her one. They are so easy and I'm tempted to make more. Here is the tutorial here at The Purl Bee. It's a gorgeous blog if you're into sewing, cratfting and knitting.

Modern embroidery inspiration

I've been really inspired by Spinthread's modern embroidered jewelery that uses traditional techniques. She was a featured seller on Etsy and that's how she came onto my radar but her work has been making its way around the blogisphere. You can check out her interview on Etsy here. Only 21 and so talented!!
There are more stunning creations being regularly added to her etsy shop. Isn't her work creative! I'm keen to learn some embroidery techniques to add to my craft repertoire.

I ♡ these scarves by Philippe Roucou

This line of scarves is the direct result of a meeting between accessories designer Philippe Roucou and a young artist, M. Cherie both collectors of abandoned images. The pictures below are from their first objets trouves polaroid series. Check out Philippe's website to see series two. Buy series one here.

Craft-d developments

So last weekend in amongst catching up with friends, grandparents and fixie bike events I spent some time trying out some new creative ideas.
I'd seen a tutorial on 100 layer cake for creating your own fabric flowers so I wanted to see how I'd go. They were very easy to make and I am thinking I'll put quite a few together to make a necklace.
I also tried making them in felt which I found much quicker to sew and the petals kept their shape brilliantly.
I've been making felt speech bubbles with the idea to turn them into necklaces. As a series they are called "Let's talk about..." This one is called 'Let's talk about the weather'.
'Let's talk about a party'
I think my technique improved after my first attempt.
I'm not so sure about this one. 'Let's talk about fun'
