Summer drink of 09-10

This homemade lemon and orange cordial with some soda water and perhaps a little bit of gin has been delightfully refreshing this summer. It's loving called Ouma's juice after a friends Ouma who is famous for making it. I gave away several bottles away as gifts for Christmas.

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges and 2 lemons - both the juice and the rind (finely grated)
  • 1.5 kg sugar
  • 4 tsp Epsom salts
  • 2 tsp Tartaric acid
  • 1 tsp Citric acid
  • 6 cups of boiling water

Method

  • Dissolve the dry ingredients in the boiled water. Once it has cooled a little, add the orange and lemon juice/rind. Done! Put in a nice bottle.
Simply delicious and easy to make.
