Music Monday - Beach House

I just can't get enough of Beach House's album Teen Dream at the moment. We got my Mikey a cool vintage record player for his birthday last week and this album on vinyl. Zebra is one of my favourite tracks. I find the chorus intoxicating.

Walk in the park is one to sing along to. You know you want to. (Sorry I had to remove this video it was a bit to unsettling to the tummy). The song is awesome but the official video is quite shocking.

Today's Music Monday is music you can dream to. Julia and Angus Stone are a brother/sister duo from Australia. Their music is emotive, contemplative and motivating.

Greenhouse by Joost

I wish I could have visited this temporary restaurant in Sydney while it was around. The Greenhouse restaurant by Joost is about lifestyle and the many choices that can be made; from material choices to fashion, food and ultimately waste. I am always inspired by people really persevering to create environments which contribute to the environment rather than pollute it.

I'M BACK!!

After a most wonderful Christmas and winter summer holiday abroad, I'm back! My Mikey and I spent a magical 3 weeks in the U.S. in New York and Pennsylvania (with 2 magical days in Boston) followed by a week in Berlin and 5 and 1/2 days in Tokyo. We've returned to our very hectic full time work schedules but incredibly inspired by everything we've seen and experienced. I hope to upload some of my fav pics soon along with my special finds and treats I picked up along the way. Here is a video inspiring me lately.

Music Monday - Toro Y Moi

A dear friend of ours introduced us to Toro Y Moi awhile back. Toro Y Moi is the stage name used by recording artist Chazwick Bundick. His music has taken on many forms since he began recording, but he is now identified with the chillwave movement of summer 2009.

I've recently discovered the song Blessa and it's my new fav chill out song. Unfortunately I can't embed the video but click the link to enjoy on YouTube. Enjoy this other tune by Toro Y Moi. x

I love Emilie Faif

Emilie Faif is a French textile artist whose work makes me melt a little inside. I think if I could fuse all the things I love like fabric, graphics, video and print together then I would hope it would come out something like Emilie's work. Her dreamy sculptures and tactile installations make me want to pack it my day job and spend the next year creating a 3D dream scape. *sigh*

The Drums - Forever and ever amen ♥

I heard this new song Forever and ever amen by the drums yesterday and had a little 'ooh who is this?' moment. Thinking I'd made a new discovery I was informed by my significant other I already liked and knew about this band... Oops. Check out the cute mini indie kid. Their other song I love (video 2) reminds me warm sun, car trips, hot sand and cool waves. It also makes wish I could whistle really well.

Auckland Zoo Valentines Date

Welcome to my Valentines Day date. A trip to the Zoo followed by Zoo music with Lisa Crawley, Sola Rosa and Anika Moa. Such a lovely day! Look out for the graceful Seals and my fav the Bleeding Heart dove. The song is Also Frightened by Animal Collective.

Laneways Auckland

Auckland Anniversary was an apt day to hold the in inaugural Auckland Laneways festival. The festival was held in the central CBD location Britomart. We were with a cool crew and the talent on show was awesome. Unfortunately the weather was a bit iffy and the heavens threatened to open a few times. Lucky the rain held off. The organisers probably have a fair bit to improve on for next year. There were more than 40min lines for food and beveredges at certain points and the bar randomly closed at 8.30pm without warning.

All I can say is THANK GOODNESS for FLORENCE
